How to : Canon Pixma iP4000 waste ink absorber full reset

Do you have any problem with your ip4000 canon printer, it show a message that you need to replace the waste ink absorber because full. it says something to contact the canon service center?

Here this manual way step by step to resetting waste ink counter on printer canon iP4000.

With the printer plugged in and powered off, press and hold the Resume/Cancel button, then press and hold the Power button. Do not release the buttons. The LED light should be green to indicate that a function is selectable.
While holding the Power button, release the Resume/Cancel button, do not release the Power button
While holding the Power button, press the Resume/Cancel button 2 times, and then release both the Power and Resume/Cancel buttons. Each time the Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in orange and green, starting with orange.
When the LED light is green, press the Resume/Cancel button 4 times. Each time the Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in orange and green, starting with orange.
Press the Power button. The LED lights in green, and the reset is performed. When the operation completes, the printer returns to the menu selection mode automatically
Press the power button to exit service mode.

There is another way how to reset this things, using resetter tools. I will post it next article.

Dear canon printer user, i want to share a great tools for resetting your canon ip pixma printer from waste ink absorber full. If you want to reset your waste ink absorber counter you can use this tools. A simple tools but very usefull. Not only for resetting your canon printer, this tools also can do this jobs :

What Is Canon Waste Ink Absorber Full

Prologue

Are you own Canon printer and got message “Waste Ink Absorber Full” when you want to print some works. The Canon help, just tell you “Please contact Canon services support” and that’s mean you need to spend some money to service your printer. These problem will happen to all of Canon printer which have already print for about thousand of paper. There are some trick to solve this problem without call Canon support, hope can help you to save some money.

Definition

Waste ink absorber is a small pad that place under the cartridge’s base position, it use to absorb any loose ink that surface on the printhead. There is a [selang] that [connect] to ink tank.

Canon printer use a chip counter that will count how much you have already print before. After a thousand of print, the chip will stop printing because the chip think’s that your waste ink absorber is full and that’s mean you need to replace it to the new one or empty the tank. If this happend the printer will stop and prompt a message that “Waste ink absorber is full” , you cannot printing anything even you try hundred times. And you will notice that your printer LED lamp will be blinking for several times [ eight times of yellow blinking, one time of orange blinking]

Why

Some of you maybe blame to Canon for this, why Canon use this procedure!. We need to have possitive thinking, this proccedure use in order to keep good and best quality of printing. And off course you don’t want your waste ink [luber] and touch you electronic parts of printer, then make your canon dead forever. but as far as I know, only Canon IP PIXMA printers display an error when a certain internal chip counter suggests that the ink absorber full.

Solution

I know , you have been searching how to solve this problem using Canon Printer manual instructions, but you find nothing except “please contact service support”.

There is unofficial ways to solve this problem, why i called unofficial because these tricks not metioned in the manual. The tricks is by resetting the “chip counter” using simple procedures or using software, which called “resetter”. The instructions for resetting the counter using “simple procedures” different from one type of canon printer to another type. Also if using software “resetter” , each resetter software only works for the type of printer that designed by the programmer. But some of Resetter can works for many series of canon printer. Almost all of them are pretty easy to follow. Once the counter is reset, you should be able to print again.

I’m not going to post the tricks and software to reset the counter in this article, because each series or type of printer have different procedures. But you can found it, in another article from this site. Just choose what type or series of your canon printer.

If you use this trick, i suggest you to clean the ink absorber on your Canon without replacement using tissue to absorb as much ink from the absorber as you can. It use to prevent the waste ink [luber] and broken your another printer hardware.
